Smoky Oak Millipedes

Narceus gordanus is the largest (thickest, not longest) North American millipede. They are sometimes called Smoky Oak millipedes or "El Gordos" (which I'm told should probably be los gordos). Color forms vary geographically (within peninsular Florida). Available specimens vary in coloration from gray to brown to yellow and measure approx. 2 inches long. They grow to 4 or so inches.

Millipedes require a substrate of mixed organic matter (see related products, below).
