Small Orbweaver

Zygiella notata confused me with Lariniodes cornutus for many years but I think I've got it down now and that these are Z. notata. This I base on the information at Bugguide.net which reveals that this species neglects to fill in a small sector of their web. Indeed, my local ones do!

Their small webs typically span from 4 to 8 inches across. Younger spiders will build even smaller webs. This is the best available species for classroom applications for observing spiders build orb webs.

Contact us if you want more than what appears in inventory. Seasonally affected, but nearly always available and in pretty decent numbers.
