Longjawed Orb Weaver

Tetragnatha is a curious orbweaver spider in that their orb shaped webs are buit parallel to the ground. The build these horizontally-oriented webs in the vegetation above small streams or creeks and probably rely on various insects coming to visit the water. The specimens I offer tend to have a legspan of about 3/4 of an inch to an inch. I can often collect these on demand, even if they are listed to out of stock. They are seasonal to some extent. I often only leave one in inventory but I can collect them, so contact me if you want more.

They are called longjawed orbweavers because they have distinctly long chelicerae. Check out the photos and more info. at Bugguide.Net.
