Dynastes granti Rhino Beetle Larvae

This is the longest, most impressive rhino beetle in the United States. These are currently available as captive raised L1 larvae (1st instar, a couple months since they hatched).

It takes approximately two years for the larvae to become adults as they molt from first instar (L1) to third instar. Larvae feed on decomposing wood from hardwood trees like oak or beech, etc.

The video below compares the yellower Dynastes tityus to the larger, olive-colored Dynastes granti. Color and intensity varies slightly within both species.
