Dynastes granti Rhino Beetle Larvae

This is the longest, most impressive rhino beetle in the United States. These are currently available as captive raised L1 larvae (1st instar, a couple months since they hatched).

It takes approximately two years for the larvae to become adults as they molt from first instar (L1/L2) to third instar. Larvae feed on decomposing wood from hardwood trees like oak or beech, etc.

The video below compares the yellower Dynastes tityus to the larger, olive-colored Dynastes granti. Color and intensity varies slightly within both species.
